Hi,
I am planning to setup one aquarium at my home, I would like to know what temperture should I maintain in the tank for the fishes like Oscar, Golden fish. My room is very cool always. How can I change the PH of water as I required (different fish required diffrent PH ,am I right?). Cud please suggest some names of colorful fishes and very immune , am very new to this field.
Looking forward to hearing fm U.
Thanks & Regards,
Sathyan
Sathyan, As a hobbyist, I welcome you to the hobby. A temperature of 72-78 Fahrenheit is acceptable for most cichlids (which is what Oscars are.) There are several ph adjusters on the market. The product made by Seachem works well, adding a buffer to keep the ph steady as well. If you are going to keep an Oscar, your choices will be more limited. You will need to start with an aquarium of at least 55 gallons since Oscars tend to get very large (about 8-10 inches.) They are not very aggressive so one of two other large, peaceful cichlids would work well with them. In this hobby reading is very important. You should study different types of fish, their requirements, and how to prevent disease as well. I wish you well and welcome your future comments and/or questions. Aquariaman |
