Subject: White particles floating in tank Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 17:44:26 -0500 (CDT)
fish to "Cycle" the tank. I also have over the top filter system. While changing the filter, my brother knocked the contents into the tank. Now I have a white particle type coating on everything, rock, ornaments and plastic plants. What could this be and what do I need to do about it? Thanks!
Dear Sir/Madam: While I do not know the specifics of what you had contained within your filtration system, I can only guess as to what the white particles are. I dont think you have anything to worry about. I would recommend: 1) Take your ornaments and rocks out and clean them off in hot water (no detergent or soap.) 2) Get your filtration operating at peak performance and your tank will look normal again soon. Once your cycle is complete, you may consider adding more fish to it. Goldfish are particularly dirty so the addition of more fish must be monitored carefully. As always read, read, read (find books here) and enjoy the hobby. Aquariaman |
