The Bearded Collie, one of Britain's oldest breeds, has also been known as the Highland Collie, the Mountain Collie or the Hairy Mou'ed Collie. It is thought that the Bearded Collie originated from the Magyar Komondor of central Europe.

Today the Bearded Collie is valued as a sheepdog and a drover. They work with little direction moving troublesome cattle.

This dog is hardy and active. His size is 22 inches in height and weighs as much as 40 to 60 pounds. He has long been a companion of man and is a devoted family member.

Acceptable coat colors are black, brown fawn and blue, with or without white markings.
