Bedlington Terrier Dog Breed

Bedlington Terrier Dogs

The Bedlington Terrier takes it's name from the mining shire of that name, in the County of Northumberland, England. The origin of the breed remains a mystery.

Many tales have been told by the older generation of matches made by miners and the nailers of that period, where large sums of money were at stake on the result of a fight between terriers of their respective fancies. The Bedlington was never a mischief seeker, but once he started fighting it was to the death.

There are two distinct colors for the Bedlington Terrier, liver and blue. A dog of great heart and a lovable nature. Courageous, alert and full of energy.

Height-males, 16 1/2 inches at the withers; females, 15 1/2 inches. Weight- 17-23 pounds.
