Bernese Mtn. Dog

Aristocratic in appearance, ancient in lineage, the Bernese Mountain Dog has long been at home on the farms in the middle land of Switzerland. One of four varieties of Swiss Mountain Dogs, the Bernese shares similar coloring with the other varieties, but is the only one of the four with a long, silky coat.

The ancestors of these dogs were brought into Switzerland over two thousand years ago by the invading Romans.

The Bernese Mountain Dog is an active dog and very hardy. This dog appreciates human companionship. He is faithful and a fast learner.

Height- males, 23-27 1/2 inches; females, 21-26 inches.
