Borzoi Dog Breed Information

Borzoi Dogs

borzoi dog

Known as the Russian Wolfhound Dog, and with a history clouded by the misty past of Czarist Russia, we know the dogs were bred by the Russian aristocracy for hundreds of years. In Russia, the precursors of the Borzoi were thought to be of several different types including the long-coated, smooth faced bearhound of early Russia, the Southern coursing hounds of the Tartars, the Owtchar- a tall Russian sheepdog, as well as other ancient sight hound types.

This dog has extreme speed, agility, and courage. A large, intelligent dog that makes a great house dog, if you have the room.

Height and weight- males, at least 28 inches and 75-100 pounds; females, at least 26 inches and 15-20 pounds less.
