Dandie Dinmont Terrier came about from different rough native terriers in the Cheviot Hills between England and Scotland. The first records of this distinct type of breed are dated around 1700.

Dandies fit in anywhere. Outdoors or in an apartment. This dog has a lot of character, he is strong willed, and not keen on obedience. Show dogs tend to be better behaved. He is smart, good with children, and an excellent guard dog.

Height - 8 to 12 inches. Weight - 18 to 24 pounds.

Coat types - medium, rough, black, orange. Sheds a little. Regular coat care is necessary for the Dandie. Frequent plucking will improve the coat.

Costs - averages $20.00 a month.
