Welsh
Springer Spaniel Dog Breed
There is no authentic information as to the date when the Welsh Springer Spaniel first appeared. However, if we examine old writings, old pictures, old prints, we find that when our ancestors took up shooting over dogs, they undoubtedly used a medium-sized spaniel resembling the Welsh Springer of today more than any other variety. These dogs were always red and white, the one and only color distinguishing the breed. A faithful dog that loves the water and is easily trainable. This dog has a happy disposition and is very active. Larger than the Cocker, but smaller than the English Springer, his appearance is symmetrical, compact, strong and obviously built for endurance. Height - 16 to 17 inches. Weight - 35 to 45 pounds. Coat types - red with white, medium length, flat and silky. Average shedder. Grooming frequency 2 times a week. Costs averages $ 25.00 a month.
