Used as a hunting dog, the Afghan Hound hunts by sight and when followed by the hunter on horseback these dogs would out-distance the horse. These dogs are very independent but make great companions and family dogs. Can be stubborn while training. Needs large yard to for exercising or daily walks. A moderately protective dog.

Height - 25 to 27 inches. Weight - 50 to 60 pounds.

Coat types - long, silky, soft, all colors. Average shedder. Grooming 3 times a week.
