Curly
Coated Retriever Dog Breed
The origin of the Curly-Coated Retriever is one of doubt, but he is popularly believed to be descended from the sixteenth- century English Water Spaniel, and from the retrieving setter. Some believe the Irish Water Spaniel was his ancestor and it is more than probable that a cross was made with the Spaniel from time to time, the liver color being a recognized color for the Curly as well as the black. This dog is affectionate, hardy, faithful, and an excellent guard. He will live in the water if you let him. A active dog, and smart. Height - 22 to 24 inches. Weight - 55 to 75 pounds. Coat types - short, curly, black, brown. Sheds a little. Costs - averages $30.00 a month. Curly-Coated Retriever Club of America (L) Corres.
