East Siberian Laika Dog Breed

Laika Information

East Siberian Laika

Originally a working dog from the former Soviet Union, the East Siberian Laika today is more of a mix between the wolf-like spitzen and the world's "regular" dogs than an individual breed.

Soviet breeders are working to establish
the type. Historically the laikas were used for pulling and hunting.

Among their quarry are the bear, elk, reindeer and marten. Only the strongest of the pack hunt for large game.

Though the Siberian Laikas resemble the wolf, they are even tempered, calm, easily trained,
and very obedient.
