Of eastern origin, this dog captured the hearts of royalty for three centuries.  Most authorities agree that it goes back to Japan, and possibly China. Regardless of the early history of the English Toy Spaniel, it seems certain that many species of modern times trace their origins back to various small spaniels of England.

He is intelligent, devoted and loyal and an active dog that loves to romp. Needs outdoor exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Does well in apartment with little or no yard.

Said not to be good with children.

Trainability: stubborn but trainable.

Its coat is wavy and long, shedding a little.
