Species Information

Aphyosemion bivittatum

Native to West Africa: southeastern Nigeria and southwestern Cameroon.

The fish itself varies considerably in color, only showing its best in old water in a well-planted aquarium, in not too much light. Live food is important to it. Like the other Aphyosemion the parents should be conditioned on live foods before placing them in a breeding tank.

Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium requiring skilled handling.

Feeds on worms, crustaceans and insects.

Water, pH range: 6.0 - 6.5; dH range: 1.0 - 6.0.
