Native to Venezuela. This strongly individual little fish with the saddle-shaped dorsal fin has seemed to attained permanent popularity. It is not only beautiful, but is easily bred and is free of that aggressiveness which marks most Dwarf Cichlids. While courting, males challenge and chase each other, but no harm is done. Eggs are usually placed on a flat stone. Male fans eggs. Female guards young. Length, 2 inches. Water, slightly alkaline, temperature 70-80 degrees.
