Aplocheilus Panchax

Species Information

Native to Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Indo-Malaysian archipelago. Reported from Nepal, Cambodia, Viet Nam, and Sri Lanka.

Rather easily-bred old favorite aquarium fish, known for years as Panchax panchax. There are several subspecies, or geographical races, differing somewhat in body shape and color.

Length, 2 3/4 inches. Fairly peaceful and a good breeder. Feeds mainly on insects.
