Native to Malaysia to Borneo.

Know as a Damsel Barb or Tiger Barb.

A tropical cypriniform, this barb is aggressive and should be kept in a shoal of eight or more to keep it from bothering other fish and the tank size should be rather large, say 10 or preferably 15 gallon. One of the prettiest sights imaginable is a 25 gallon tank containing about 50 of these lively beauties.

Males liable to nip anal fins of females prior to spawning, even to the extent of killing them.

Length, 2 inches.
