Called the Kissing Gourami these fish have an unusual way of testing each others strength. The two males go head to head, trying to win the affections of a female. Only one or two per tank is best. Though planktons eaters (they will except prepared foods once they are two weeks old), these fish will clean algae from your aquatic plants. Parents will eat eggs, but completely ignore the young. Young hatchlings need Infusoria the first week followed by fresh newly hatched Brine Shrimp or sifted live Daphnia. After a couple of weeks on this diet fine floating food may be introduced. They soon become surface feeders. These fish prefer a water temperature of 75-82 degrees. They have few diseases, but decline if kept cool, or not feed several times a day.
