Native to South America: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Feeds on worms, small crustaceans and plant matter. In tank, female lays 200 to 300 eggs which hatch in 2 to 3 days Length, 1 1/2 inches. An inch and a half is the ideal size for some aquarists. The "Tet from Rio" is just that kind of fish, and has many other features that make it the ideal fish for most aquariums. It is harmless, reasonably hardy, easily cared for and can be bred-but not so easy to become uninteresting. It is found that a higher percentage of eggs hatch when two males are present. After spawning is finished the breeders should be removed. Water, pH range: 5.8 - 7.8; dH range: 5.0 - 25.0 at 70-80 degrees. More Fish and Aquaria Information Here
