Native to North America: occurs only in the USA from Georgia in Ogeechee River to Alabama in Perdido River, south to central Florida. One record from Escatawpa River drainage in southeastern Mississippi. Known as the Pygmy killifish it can grow to 1 1/2 inches. Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium, but there are those that succeed with it. Spawning is at 74 degrees and eggs are layed in thickets of fine plants. Incubation period is around 10 days. Babies are small and require minute Infusoria. Easily fed, it should have plenty to eat with occasional live food being offered. Temperature range 65-80 degrees.
