Species Information

Native to South America: Area south of the lower Amazon. In weedy side arms of the river; popular aquarium fish in the USA.

Sometimes called a silver dollar, this fish is another harmless herbivore and should be kept in a shoal in a large aquarium. These fish can grow to a length of 6 inches. Being a vegetarian they feed on most anything that you might eat, fruits, weeds found in the pond, etc.
