Species Information

Native to South America: Guianas, Suriname, Venezuela; also in the Peruvian Amazon.

Gregarious and non-aggressive. Possesses powerful dentition that can cause serious bites.

This fish enjoys water with a lot of oxygen and very little nitrate buildup. They have yet to be bred successfully.
