Native to South America: Amazon basin in Brazil, near the mouth of the Rio Negro, in the lower Rio Abacaxis, and in the lower Rio Trombetas, the discus has been called the king of the freshwater tropical fishes. A real show fish, large, up to 8'' long, and brilliantly colored. There is a myth that Discus are hard to keep in the aquarium. Just provide a well planted Amazonian aquarium, some smaller fish for company and this fish can do well.
