The German Shepherd Dog originated from the old breeds of herding and farm dogs. This dog has been associated for centuries with man as a servant and companion. Always known to be a working dog, through selective breeding the
German Shepherd has been the subject of intensive development
involving both temperament and structure.

Looking first at the more important side of the dog - it's character - the Shepherd is known for loyalty, courage, and the ability to be trained for a number of special services. He has an even disposition, is poised with no appearance of nervous behavior.

This dog is strong, agile, and full of life. He is direct, self-confident, a great watchdog, and companion. He is a real family dog that is devoted to his owner. Overall, these dogs are all one can possibly desire in a canine companion.

Height - 22 to 26 inches. Weight - 65 to 95 pounds.

Coat types - dense, short, black with tan, gray, white, black. Sheds some. Groom 3 times a week.

Costs - averages $30.00 a month.
