European Grass Snakes |

The European grass snake, Natrix natrix, makes a good pet. It is similar to the North American garter snake. In the wild it is quite an aggressive snake, raising its body and spitting when menaced. This snake can be found in damp grass, banks of ponds and slow moving streams. Frogs and other amphibians are it's main food supply. Between the months of October and March it hibernates.
