Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

The  popularity of the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog decreased as the smooth-coated Saint Bernard became more popular.  The relationship between the two breeds became somewhat entwined as they were cross-bred.

Crossbreeding to Saints is where the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog gets it size. They were originally used as farm dogs and to pull carts.

This dog is good natured, friendly and makes a great house dog. He is confident and courageous.

Height - 23 to 29 inches (59 to 74 cm). Weight - up to 130 pounds (59 kg).

Coat type - short, glossy. Color - black and tan with white.
