![]() The Iceland Dog is known for being more of a herder than a hunter. This dog was introduced to Iceland by the Norwegians. During that era the dog was known as the Friaar Dog.
The coat and undercoat are its main differences from
the Greenland Dog. The Icelandic's coat is not quite as
long as its cousin's the Greenland Dog. Another Nordic This dog is good-humored and vivacious, and makes a fine pet. His hunting instincts are quite dominant making him a good companion. Height - 12 to 16 inches (31 to 41cm). Weight - 20 to 30 pounds (9 to 14kg). Coat type - thick and not quite as long as many other Nordic breeds. The undercoat is dense. Color - wheaten, black, wolf-sable, off-white, and black.
