The Jack Russell Terrier was developed during the 19th century to be used while horsemen and horsewomen hunted fox in Great Britain.

The "Jack" makes a great family dog but really needs to have a lot of room to run. To this day instilled in this dog are its working instincts and may chase cats and other small animals and kill them. This is not always the case, but it's best to have them leashed while walking and early obedience training is highly suggested.

They can live in the same house with children and other dogs if exposed to them at an early age. They're protective of their toys, food bowl and other possessions.

They make a good watchdog and will let you know when someone is at your door.

Grooming- brushed at least once a week.

Coat type- smooth or wiry are available.

Color- white all over with patches of black and/or tan.

Weight- 10 - 15 pounds.

Height- 12 - 15 inches.

Life span- up to 15 years.
