Karelian Bear Dog

The Karelian Bear Dog comes from an area in northern Europe once known as Karelia. The locale has always had many dogs that were hunters of big game. This breed is courageous enough to fight the wolf and is often used as a protector. In his native Finland he is used mostly to hunt elk and is favored by the big-game hunters.

The Karelian is not the choice for the casual pet owner. He is a hunter of unrelenting bravery and determination. Proper training and socialization is a must.
