Kerry Blue Terriers

The Kerry Blue Terrier originated in Ireland, having been noticed first in the mountainous regions of County Kerry. The dogs had been pure-bred in that section for over 100 years. He is used quite successfully for herding sheep and cattle.

The Kerry is a lovable, smart, and gentle dog. Easily trained, this dog can't be beat as a watchdog and a all around companion. He is spunky, good-humored, typically terrier in temperament, and a long living dog.

Height- males, 18 1/2 inches at the withers, slightly less for a bitch.

Weight- males, 33-40 pounds, bitches weighing proportionately less.

The Kerry's coat is characterized by its dense, silky growth, soft and plentiful, and unusual color.
