|
|
||||||
This is a large bird measuring on the average thirty-seven inches in length. It lives in the jungles of Panama, south to Boliva and northern Paraguay. In it's habitat, the tropical forests, the staple of the Macaw is palm-fruit, which it easily breaks up with it's great and powerful beak. It also eats other tree-fruit and tree- shoots. The Blue and Yellow Macaw hatches it's eggs in tree holes. After hatching it's eggs, these birds form great flocks and attack plantations. Like most parrots, the Macaw is a sociable bird and likes a lot of attention. Food: In captivity, fruit, carrots, lettuce, seeds, nuts, and corn.
