|
|
Cassel finds drawings on Egyptian monuments of typical Mastiff's dating about 3000 B.C.. In literature, the earliest reference is in Chinese about 1121 B.C.. Many cultures used the Mastiff as fighting war dogs. They were also used in hunting packs by the nobility. Anecdotes extolling the power and agility of the Mastiffs as well as their devotion to their masters would fill a large volume of marvels. This dog is a big breed and makes a great watchdog. Though docile don't be fooled, this dog is courageous but with a good nature. Height- males, minimum 30 inches at the shoulders; females, 27 1/2 inches. Mastiff Club of America, Inc.
