Papillon Dog Breed

Papillon

The Papillion Dog Breed is the dog that so resembles those little dogs often seen pictured in rare old paintings and tapestries. For example, Rubens, Watteau, Fragonard, Boucher all depicted them.  The original name was Dwarf Spaniel and its ears were large and drooping. Eventually, the ears became erect and pitched on the on the head. They resembled the wings of a butterfly which brought about his present day name, Papillion. Both types may be found in a litter.

These are hardy dogs. They do well in hot or cold weather. Small, friendly, and light-weight, this dog is vigorous. They love the great outdoors, but do just fine in an apartment.

Height - 8-11 inches. Weight- in proportion to height.

Coat types - long, dense,  multi-colored, speckled, all colors, sheds a little.

Costs - averages $15.00 a month.
