The Spaniards, who have always been known for their love of the bull, were engrossed in bull baiting as a spectator sport. On Mallorca, one of the Balearic islands off the coast of Spain, this canine, the Presso De Presa Mallorquin was bred to participate in the dog fighting ring. Organized dogfights on Mallorca have mostly disappeared, and with this disappearance the population of the Mallorquin Bulldogs. A number of the dogs still exist, but residents believe that most of them are mainly crosses of the original dog.

Height - no less than 23 inches (59 cm). Weight - 150 pounds (68 kg).

Coat type - short and smooth. Color - shades of yellow, tan and fawn; brindles occur.
