The Sanshu originated with the Japanese by crossing different Shika Inus with smooth-coated Phu Quoc Dog which is now extinct. The Sanshu is now used as guard and companion dog. He is a dedicated family dog.

Height - 16 to 18 inches (41 to 46 cm). Weight - 44 to 55 pounds ( 20 to 25 kg). Coat type - Color - varies in shades of red, tan, white, gray, fawn, and pied, as well as black/tan and salt/pepper.
