Silky Terrier

The Silky Terrier comes from Australia. It is not a bush dog but a companion dog living mainly in suburban homes. Originally he was known as the Sydney Silky because he originated in that city. In 1955 he became known abroad as the Australian Silky Terrier and in 1959 he became known as the Silky Terrier in the United States.

The Silky Terrier is mainly a cross of the Australian Terrier and the Yorkshire and has long been a favorite of the apartment and cottage dweller. A good companion and agile, smart, he has a good disposition but said not to be good with children.

Height- at the shoulder 9 to 10 inches. Weight- Ranges from 8 to 9 pounds.

Coat type - straight, long and silky. Colors- blue and tan. Sheds very little. Needs grooming twice a week.

Costs- averages at $15.00 a month.
