Most of the terriers seen today have gotten their present characteristics during the last century. The Sky Terrier of four centuries ago was like the dogs of today. The breed gets its name from the chief the northwestern islands of Scotland that, was his native home. He is a dog that loves to explore within rocks, caves, burrows and water. This dog has alot of stamina and should be exercised at least one half hour daily. He's agile, strong, elegant. He is friendly, courageous, and wary of strangers. Said not to be good with children. Height- male, shoulder height, 10 inches; females, 9 1/2 inches. Weight- 19 to 24 pounds. Coat -long, straight. Coat Colors- black, blue, cream, gray, silver gray, tan, sheds a little.
