Sometimes known as the Horseshoe Racer the Coluber Hippocrepis can reach lengths of up to 5 feet. His range is from northeastern Africa to the Iberian Peninsula. This almost black snake has a pattern of laterally oriented blotches of parallel oblique angles. A horseshoe shape adorns the head. Easy to keep in a terrarium with temperatures between 70 and 85 degrees and sunlight available every day. A bottom heater is preferred. Hibernation of several months is needed.
