Said to reach 5 feet in length, the Ladder snake can be found on the Iberian Peninsula, Minorca, and in France. The two longitudinal stripes that form a ladder pattern is where this snake gets its name. They love to bask in the sun and hunt for food (mice, birds and lizards) in the early evening and night. When first introduced to the terrarium this snake gets worked up and bites. Acclimation occurs eventually, but be on your guard. The climate of the terrarium should be dry with day temps of 79 to 86 degrees. Hibernation of several months is recommended
