Whippet Dog Breed Information
The earlier specimens of the Whippet differed a great deal from the present-day dogs. These were crosses of small English Greyhounds and various terriers, both smooth and rough-coated. It was not until a much later date that fanciers added as an infusion of Italian Greyhound blood which aided so materially in improving type.
A miniature English Greyhound that is very affectionate and smart. This dog is fast, up to 35 miles per hour (making a great dog for racing), as well as affectionate, charming, and an intellegent pet. He is never snappy or "barky," though as a watchdog he is excellent. Height: males, 19-22 inches; females, 18-21 inches. American Whippet Club, Inc.
